We are now closing in on the top 4. Amazing performances this round and the elimination is really getting tougher. It was a great idea not to favor coaches and teams this season because I think the artists deserve more the recognition. With regards to the results of the past two rounds, did you notice that the one who performed first got eliminated first. In the top 12, Michaela performed first and she got one of the least votes and was eliminated. Sylvia suffered the same fate this round. It seems there is a trend here. Sylvia and Bryan were also the first two whose names were announced as save artists in the last elimination round. Anyway, off to my individual assessments.
Cassadee Pope, Team Blake
Cassadee stellar performance of Miranda Lambert's "Over You."
Cassadee brought the house down with her rendition of "Over You" which is a Miranda Lambert original. Blake, who happens to penned this song together with Miranda, was so star struck as if he just heard the song for the first time. I guess everyone had the same reaction. It was my first time to hear this song and I think it fit Cassadee to a tee. I think Cassadee can win it if she builds this momentum over the next crucial rounds.
Melanie Martinez, Team Adam
Melanie makes her own twist of White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army".
I am glad Melanie brought her guitar back. She brings that singer-songwriter vibe which is a perfect picture for her. I heard this song before and I think she did better. She makes the listener experience the material in another light and that is where she is the strongest. Amanda Brown, Team Adam
Amanda shines with Grace Potter and the Nocturnals' "Stars."
Amanda can sing any song. But for any artist here, song choice is the key to a successful performance. This is another song I have not heard before and Amanda run with it. She made us believe that it is her own. This was way much better than her last showing. Welcome back to the top Amanda.
Nicholas David, Team Cee Lo
St. Nick jives with Bill Withers' "Lean on Me."
St, Nick took us to church and it was sensational. He is so consistent and his performances is so defined. He looks every inch a pro with new locks and the fine suit. The formula still works for him but he still needs to open up more.
Dez Duron, Team Christina
Dez's "Feeling Good" moment.
Dez is a crooner with a lot of charisma This was one of his better performance. However, could he charm his way to the top? Cody Belew, Team Cee Lo
Cody is doing a show to Beyonce's "Crazy in Love."
Crazy Cody picks up a Beyonce song and the outfit was out there. His performance has visual impact although he seems to be mumbling the lyrics in some parts.
Terry McDermott, Team Blake
Terry rocks to Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69."
Terry sounds and looks rock definitely but this performance seems to be lacking. I think he could have done much better with a different song.
Trevin Hunte, Team Cee Lo
Trevin with his take on Usher's "Scream."
Trevin decided to change it up a bit with an upbeat song. The idea was good but the execution was not that good. The screams wasn't eardrum friendly at all. I think he needs to stick to what he sings best. Perhaps he can do a Donna Summer and turn ballad songs to disco.
Bryan Keith, Team Adam
Bryan takes on Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind."
Bryan was always consistent and delivers all the time. But why was he out? Well, he makes it look everything so easy. The way he sings make you at ease. I think, Bryan wasn't innovative as some of the other artist. Sometimes you have to exude a certain degree of aggression to show you wanted something really bad.
Sylvia Yacoub, Team Christina
Sylvia puts her all into Alicia Keys' "Girl on Fire."
Sylvia sound a bit like Christina. She also brings that fire when she performs. But, I guess, it isn't enough to be Christina's 'mini me' to win The Voice.
It is the live rounds and a lot of rule changes taking place this season. From hereon in, the power shifts completely to the public. The coaches lost the power to save their favored artists. After the votes are casts, two artist will be eliminated irregardless of any team whatsoever. So it is a possibility of a coach or two having no artist represent him or her in the final four. That would surely be a bummer for any of the coaches if none in the their team reach the finals. Let's wait and see how they would take this ego crushing scenario. So with this, I am choosing my top 4 artist each week. Here is my take on the performances and results of this round.
The best from all the rest...
Trevin Hunte #TeamCeeLo
Trevin Hunte: "When a Man Loves a Woman" - The Voice
Cee Lo's top dogg is back! Trevin Hunte is just spectacular. He took everyone to church from beginning to end. Way to go, Trevin!
Melanie Martinez #TeamAdam
Melanie haunts us with Young the Giant's "Cough Syrup."
This is the Melanie Martinez that I like. I love Melanie when she takes on weird and poetic songs. Her voice and her take on songs like this makes her unique. That makes her interesting to listen and I would listen to her singing this song all day long.
Sylvia Yacoub #TeamChristina
Sylvia does a stellar rendition of Celine Dion's "My Heart Will Go On."
Sylvia is showing she is the top female vocalist on Christina's team. A stellar performance on a very difficult to sing Celine Dion song. She did really really well. She even sounded a bit like her mentor. Christina must be so proud of her apprentice.
Terry McDermott #TeamBlake
Terry rocks on Boston's "More Than a Feeling."
This is a perfect song choice for Terry. I like Terry's voice when its way up there. However, there are some bullets that missed the mark. His voice seem to struggled to hit some of the high notes. Nevertheless, he was so amazing to watch. Yes to more rock and to more Terry in the coming rounds.
It's alright, it's okay; they made it anyway...
Cassadee Pope #TeamBlake
Cassadee sings her heart out with Kelly Clarkson's "Behind These Hazel Eyes."
I like Cassadee when she is rocking with a guitar. It makes you feel you are on a concert. Well, she's been there before. Her rock influence shines through. She has a natural shakiness in her voice that I like. And that high note near the end, sensational! I wish she did hold it, though, all through out. Nevertheless, a very good performance from her.
Nicholas David #TeamCeeLo
St Nick grooves to Huey Lewis' "The Power of Love."
Nicholas is giving us a lesson in old school music. He performs like a man possessed with music and that makes him contagious. His moves are a bit in a quirky side but very entertaining. However, I wish St. Nick could open his eyes when he sings and interact more with the audience.
Cody Belew#TeamCeeLo
Cody slows things down with a Tina Turner classic, "The Best."
This is a very subdued performance from Cody. He sings good his voice inaudible or drown in the lower parts of the song. It was not a perfect fit, however, his enigmatic stage presence does shines through for him all the time. I think he delivers more 'bam bam' when he sings up tempo songs.
Amanda Brown#TeamAdam
Amanda takes on Florence + the Machine's "Spectrum."
Oh Amanda what went wrong. I was a bit of a disaster. First, she started very low. Then her voice sounds strained and she couldn't reach the higher notes. She did a lot of arm swaying as well, kinda like a jellyfish swimming in the deep blue sea. But she looked great and sexy in her dress. I hope we get a more stellar Amanda next week.
Bryan Keith #TeamAdam
Bryan puts a soulful touch to Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black."
Way to go Keith! I like his soulful rendition of this song. He makes singing look so easy. However, no matter how pleasing it was to the ears, I can't help myself from inhaling some air and stretching my eardrums. Boredom starts creeping in. I wish he could do more than sing slow rock or ballad songs. He needs to do something different next time.
Dez Duron #TeamChristina
Dez on stage with "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You."
Dez is becoming quite the consummate balladeer . He never fails to make the ladies in the audience scream. He did his own thing with this song so it was kinda alright for me. The one that got away... Michaela Page #TeamBlake
Michaela's take on Pink's "Blow Me (One Last Kiss)."
Michaela started low and shaky, however, she brought out that sassy punk rock chick and delivered a solid performance at the end. This girl is a trooper. Too bad she didn't get the votes she needed to cross over to the next round. I would have liked to see more of her. I am gonna miss her Mohawk and all.
A definitely bye bye...
Adriana Louise #TeamChristina
Adriana sings her twist to Carrie Underwood's "Good Girl."
Adriana was one of my favorites at the blinds. However, she seem to have lost her magic moving forward in the competition. I think she can sing any song she likes and make good run with it. The problem, however, is that she doesn't seem to make us stand up in awe. Yeah, it is time to say goodbye.
It is another round of eliminations. Two saved by America's votes and one saved by their coaches. Amanda was so awesome. For me, she was the star of the night. There is some shocking results with the elimination of early favorite De'Borah. Sadly, Christina didn't pick her to move on to the live rounds. Well, that's the way the competition goes.
All of fate's a chance, it's either good or bad
I tossed my coin to say in love with me you'd stay
But all in war is so cold, you either win or lose
When all is put away, the losing side I'll play
But all is fair in love, I should've never left your side
A writer takes his pen to write the words again
That all in love is fair
My 3 top performers are...
Amanda Brown #TeamAdam
Amanda sings Aerosmith's "Dream On."
I think Amanda did the best performance of the night. That was so spectacular. She's been the best steal in the competition. And aren't we all grateful for that steal. She's definitely a strong contender for the title. If that happens, Cee Lo would definitely be very disappointed letting her slip through his hands. Terry McDermott #TeamBlake
Terry's take on Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'"
Another wonderful performance from Terry. Terry's voice is awesome. He is so believable in this song. He can be the lead singer for a band like Journey. But I still see his rendition of "Baby, I'm Amazed", which he did in the knockout rounds, his best performance so far.
Cassadee Pope #TeamBlake
Cassadee's version of Avril Lavigne's "My Happy Ending."
Cassadee is an awesome talent. Her voice has a mix of pop, rock and country. But I sense a weakness or shakiness in her voice. I don't know if its nerves or what. But whatever it is, her voice seems to put me in a journey to something surprising.
Who else is doing alright...
Trevin Hunte #TeamCeeLo
Trevin's choice - Laura Branigan's "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You".
It is hard not to compare Trevin with the girl she beat in the knockout round. In this round it is clear, Amanda had the better performance. Here, we see a more of a subdued Trevin. I guess this is how mellow Trevin can get. But, he did show a lot of finesse by just doing the big note just one time. Trevin, don't hold back too much next time.
Nicholas David #TeamCeLoo
St. Nick sings Barry White's "You're the First, the Last, My Everything."
I don't know this song. It sounded like old school. But what do you expect from an old soul like him. Good for St Nick, giving a great performance to this song. I am looking forward to see what he does in the next round and I hope he choose another girl song and turn it into awesome groovy-ness.
Michaela Paige #TeamBlake
Michaela and Neon Trees' "Everybody Talks."
I like the punk rock vibe of Michaela in this performance. She reminds me of a very current Cindy Lauper. Her stage presence is awesome and she delivers a very good solid performance all the way. What is next with this gal? A slow ballad perhaps to see if she venture out to different moods. Bryan Keith #TeamAdam
Bryan performs the Goo Goo Dolls' "Iris."
Bryan did good with this song. I like the roughness of his voice in this one. He made it so effortless. That is why I find myself singing along with him. However, it is a bit laid back and carefree. Would that be enough to beat the bigger voices in this competition?
Sylvia Yacoub #TeamChrsitna
Sylvia takes on Katy Perry's "The One That Got Away."
Katy Perry is becoming a favorite artist on Christina's camp. Sylvia is also becoming the top favorite of Christina. What can I say? Well, she does sound a bit like Christina. Nevertheless, this performance is awesome. She outdid everyone in her team this round. But can she secure a place for team Christina in the finals? I doubt it.
Dez Duron #TeamChristina
Dez get serious with Hunter Hayes' "Wanted."
I have to admit he is my least favorite dude in the top 20. However, with this performance, I thought he did good. He sang the song like a showman. Good song choice and his performance was better compared to Diego, MacKenzie and even Bryan.
My Saved Favorites...
Melanie Martinez #TeamAdam
Melanie sings Ray Charles song "Hit the Road Jack."
I think this was a bad song choice that plagued Melanie in this round. The song is kinda old. She did made the song her own but the song needed some aggression and power that she didn't deliver. It was lounge-ish and was not convincing at all. But I am glad Adam saved her. So far, "Lights" is her best yet. I would like to hear more haunting or meaningful interpretations from her that leaves you wanting more.
Cody Belew #TeamCeeLo
Cody gives tribute to George Michael's "One More Try."
I don't know why Cody reminds me of Adam Lambert minus the eyeliner and heavy make-up. He did very well in this song enough for him to be saved by Coach Cee Lo. But if you ask me, I would have picked MacKenzie over him.
Adriana Louise #TeamChristina
Adriana does a Katy Perry with her own "Firework."
The performance was not all fireworks. Adriana was a bit rushed in this song and I hear her voice a bit shaky in parts. Her face also looked so strained reaching for those high notes. The performance was not an inspiring one as it should be. Well, thanks for the save Christina. But for real? I think the more deserving artist got eliminated. The one that got away ... De'Borah #TeamChristina
De'Borah puts soul into Pink's "Who Knew."
I was so sure this girl would move forward to the live shows. But with Team Christina, nothing is so sure. This does remind me of what happen to Jesse Campbell last season. Christina does have the knack of eliminating her best singers in the earlier rounds. De'Borah did better than Adriana in this round. She also has the unique soulful voice far distinct from the power pop divas on Christina's team. She also did the two of the most memorable performances in this season with The Fray's "You Fond Me" in the knockout rounds and The Police's "Message in the Bottle" in the Battle rounds. I hope De'Borah finds her success somewhere. Good luck girl! Julio Cesar Castillo #TeamBlake
Julio takes on "El Rey."
I think Julio's performance is a breath of fresh air. His passion and love for mariachi shines through. It sad for him to go after that very spirited performance. But it was a toss up between him and Michaela for that third spot on Blake's team. Too bad he didn't get pick.
MacKenzie Bourg #TeamCeeLo
MacKenzie does a "What Makes You Beautiful." his own way.
I have mix feelings about MacKenzie's performance this week. It was cute - perhaps too much of an obvious ploy to get the lady's votes. However, did it made the public seriously vote for him? I didn't think it did. The song wasn't challenging enough. Besides, it was too reminiscent of his earlier performances. He should have change things up and gone for a more meaningful song. I hope this kid find some success elsewhere.
Loren Allred #TeamAdam
Loren put a spin on Lisa Stansfield's "All Around the World."
After the knockout round, I was ready to be surprised again by Loren. She did a good job with this song by Lisa Stansfield. I like it when she lets go of high notes. However, there were no surprises. I was left empty handed after the song. I think that was the reason she was not picked.
Yes, it's their time to go... Diego Val #TeamCeLoo
Diego takes on Enrique Iglesias' "Bailamos."
You would think Diego would kill it in this sexy Latin song. But I don't think he did. First of all, some of his pronunciation in this song is a bit odd. I don't know if it is the normal way to saying "Te quiero" fast that way them but I find it different from how Enrique sang it. I find it rushed which made it unappealing. It is just my opinion. Peace man!
Joselyn Rivera #TeamAdam
Joselyn goes for it on Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart a Break."
Joselyn was one of the two stolen artist left in the competition. She was originally one of Christina's artist and was saved by Adam from the knockout rounds. I had high hopes for Joselyn 'cause she has the killer combination of youth, beauty and a powerful voice. But in this performance, the voice was not there. It was a lack luster performance for Joselyn.
Devyn DeLoera #TeamChristina
Devyn sings her cover of Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love."
Bleeding Love is a nice song choice for her but it didn't click. I find some parts very screechy which made me cringe like nails on the blackboard. Devyn, Adraina and Sylvia are the three powerful vocalist in Team Christina this season. And that is too much for one team. so it doesn't hurt one or two eliminated just to keep the interest on the question on 'who is the better diva?' alive. But with De'Borah gone, I don't think there will be any singers from her team reaching the finals.
Liz Davis #TeamBlake
Liz sings Martina McBride's "Independence Day."
I think Liz did good, but not impressive enough. She seem to be having trouble reaching for those high notes. It would been spectacular if she gone for a much higher register. Great stage presence though. No more country at this point now that she is gone.
It is the knockout rounds part 2 and it is Christina Aguillera and Blake Shelton's turns to pick their top 5 artist to move forward to the live performance rounds. This show brings a lot of hype and energy. There is so much going on and in a fast phase. And, I think it is moving quite fast. You don't get to see one or two talent but 5 or 10 per episode. We only get to know and revel at their talent in only one or two episodes and then they're gone. Well that is reality TV for you. On with the show...
Team Christina Devyn DeLoera vs Laura Vivas
Song choice: "I Have Nothing" / "I Need To Know"
Singing Whitney may make or break you. Shaky start for Devyn, but she hold it strong at the end. It is Laura's first full feature under the spotlight. For no apparent reason, she has been given less airtime exposure during the earlier rounds. She is very good and confident when she perform. And I love how she put more Latin flavor into it. Laura has the stage presence but Devyn showed more depth in her voice. I guess that's why Christina pick her.
Adriana Louise vs Celica Westbrook
Song choice: "Already Gone" / "Never Say Never"
I like Justin Beiber's songs just for fun. But in a competition like this, it doesn't give much value to sing unless maybe you are a singer songwriter type who makes your own spin to it. But Celica is not. Good effort though for bringing us something new, Celica. It is getting to be a one note for team Christina. All pop and big voices. But there is no denying Adriana. She sure can sing. Christina is becoming predictable.
Alessandra Guercio vs Dez Duron
Song choice: "Take a Bow" / "Stuck on You"
Go on Alessandra and take a bow. Dez should have gone too but he chose a better song title to win over Christina. I don't have much to comment about this pair. They are just good to look at.
Chevonne vs De'borah
Song choice: "Dancing with Myself" / "You Found Me"
You rock Chevonne! Now we know you love to party. But celebration this early can sometimes turn into a bitter taste in the mouth. Kudos to De'borah for being true and inspirational. A tear almost slip out my eye. Thank you for reminding us that God is everywhere every time.
Aquile vs Sylvia Yacoub
Song choice: "Grenade" / "Fighter"
Bold song choices and these two artists are not afraid to take risk. Risky songs does exposed your vocal flaws more. Aquile's voice is not gutsy enough or he didn't dirty it enough or put much effort into it to make par with what Bruno Mars has done with this song. For that he didn't made the grade. Doing Fighter live! That is super risky. And it did exposed Sylvia's voice a lot. She is way under a lot and seems to lag behind a little with the phasing. I give her A for effort.
Christina picked a lot of powerful singers and that is what shaped her team. Three powerful singers in one group? My ears now starting to bleed. My ranking of Team Christina:
Team Blake Gracia Harrison vs Liz Davis
Song choice: "I Don't Wanna Miss a Thing" / "Gunpowder and Lead"
I would have liked Gracia to move forward as the lone country artist from team Blake but she did stray away from this genre when she picked this song or didn't put much twist on it to make it sound country. Liz, on the other hand, is too sexy. She is touching her body way much when she perform. She need to tone down the skin and the leather.
Rudy Parris vs Terry McDermott
Song choice: "Forever" / "Maybe I'm Amazed"
Poor Rudy. He made a young song old. Welcome back rock '80s! With just the first line of the song, Terry already won. He is a star and a strong contender to win Blake his second best coach trophy on The Voice.
Collin McLoughlin vs Michaela Paige
Song choice: "Breakeaven" / "Love is a Battlefield"
Collin has a like-ability factor to him. However, being a stolen artist from another coach, has a big disadvantage compared to a first hand chosen artists. And with a perfectionist coach like Blake, one note can dismiss you outright. Michaela, IMHO, is most improved. She is current. Her performance is not over the top. She doesn't push but you know it is very good and that you want more of it. I can't help noticing the envy in Christina's eyes when she performs in front of her. Ce Loo's shades doesn't hide the same look he gives to this girl. She is definitely a gem to watch our for in the upcoming rounds.
Julio Cesar Castillo vs MarissaAnn
Song choice: "Somebody To Love" / "Lady Marmalade"
In a very diverse team, odd pairings come naturally. And this is no exception. Another Justin Beiber song but this time it did work surprisingly. I like Julio's voice especially when it is up there. He is also very like-able. Lady Marmalade is a tough song to do. And I think MarissaAnn did Christina proud. MarissaAnn is a better singer compared to Julio. But with Blake's standards, no one can beat a Christina Aguilera.
Cassadee Pope vs Susanna Choffel
Song choice: "Payphone" / "Could You Be Loved"
I never seen Cassadee Pope so nervous and worried. I didn't expect that for an experienced artists like her. Well, perhaps her song choice made her feel that way. Singing Payphone to the one who did it originally is definitely a blood rusher. It was not perfect but she did a lot of twist to it that made it as good as Adam's record. Susanna's vibe, however, was completely the opposite. She was cool as ice. But I do agree, no matter how pleasing it was to the ears, it was too laid back that it didn't vibe to the charge up energy of the whole show.
I do question some of Blake's choices and decisions. He is the hardest to read and predict among the coach and judges. Mind you, he built a formidable team at the end. He chances 1 or 2 stars and let them shine like a supernova. It does make you think that he is a master at strategy. You know he likes to win.
He is also the most opinionated. Sometimes his comments and retorts borderlines SPG. He doesn't sugar coat it. He gives you the way it is. And I think that makes him a great coach.
Here is how they're rank IMHO:
Well, I am off to the races. Enjoy the rest of your day.
It is the knockout round. I am sad that half of these talented singers will be cut. There are too many of them I like. But from hereon in who will be left are those which the judges would consider as true artist. Those who has the wow factor and sell lots of records. So on with the show and some of my thoughts on who is in and who's leaving.
Team Adam Levine
Joselyn Rivera vs Kayla Nevarez
Song choice: "Woman on Top" / "Shark in the Water"
Between the two, Joselyn picked a more difficult route with a Beyonce song. Joselyn also put more effort into his performance while. I think Kayla is still stuck in doing the same performance she did in the audition round. So, what do people get when they take the extra initiative? A reward. Joselyn goes forward to the live shows.
Joe Kirkland vs Bryan Keith
Song choice: "Mean" / "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)"
Unlike the first the first match-up in Adam's Team, taking risk doesn't translate into winning the prize. Joe took risks with a brilliant rendition of "Mean". I think he had the upper hand there, but raw talent is what Adam saw in Bryan. Moving forward, Bryan should leave his comfort zone of singing ballad rock songs and spread his wings a little. Surprise us Adam.
Amanda Brown vs Michelle Brookes-Thompson
Song choice: "Paris (Ooh La La)" / "Spotlight"
For me, this battle is even-steven. It looks like a difficult choice. Let's break it down. Both singers have huge awesome voices. I think Michelle made the better song choice. She also made beautiful runs and highs with it. There are also some lows and pitch issues. Amanda, on the other hand, has a sense of control and ease in her performance. She was consistent and sure. In the end, Amanda won Adam's favor.
Loren Allred vs Nicole Nelson
Song choice: "You know I'm No Good" / "If I Ain't Got You"
When this pairing was sealed, I thought Loren would be saying goodbye. I thought she wasn't that good because of the little airtime given to her in the previous rounds. Nicole, however, was a very strong contender from the start. Talk about 4 button pushes at the audition round. She was amazing. And she still was with the Alisha Keys song. But things do turn around. In an instance, Loren was first and gave the performance of her life. And what a breakthrough. Strong start, awesome finish. She got her ticket to the next round. Good for Loren. Sorry for Nicole.
Melanie Martinez vs Sam James
Song choice: "Bulletproof" / "Walking in Memphis"
Sometimes you know who is going to win before the battle starts. And in this battle, Melanie has it in the bag. She didn't disappointing. Give it to Melanie for choosing an obscure song and putting her stamp on it.
This is how I see Team Adam in rank:
Team Cee Lo Green Avery Wilson vs Cody Below
Song Choice: "Yeah 3x / "Jolene"
Among the teams, Cee Lo's group is the most diverse in genre. And with that, you will end up with odd parings such as this. Avery - the hip hop dance protege versus Cody - the stylized country crooner. How can you compare these two? Initially, I thought Avery got this in the bag. He would make a wonderful performance like his look-a-like Chris Brown. It didn't happen. Must have been too much dancing that made him sounds odd and out of breath. Cody, however, made a bizarre rendition of a love triangle song. That made it intriguing and, at the same time, surprisingly convincing. Avery has a great future ahead of him and that is not something to feel sorry for.
MacKenzie Bourg vs Daniel Rosa
Song choice: "Call Me Maybe" / "Back to December"
I am so split at this pairing. MacKenzie is a singer-songwriter. He is like the Borg who can assimilate any song and make it his own. Daniel, on the other hand, sings with his heart on a sleeve. Even though he sings on the edge of doubt, he creates magic with notes and slurs. I like these two stylize singers. But in his at this point, one must go and one must move forward. I feel for Daniel but I think Cee Lo made a better choice in MacKenzie.
Terisa Griffin vs Trevin Hunte
Song choice: "Saving All My Love for You" / "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)
What happened to Terisa's leg? Did she had too much Conga with her buddy Julio? Just kidding. With this Whitney Houston song, she was in her element. But who would deny Trevin? Against All Odds has been his message all through out this competition. Another brilliant performance from Trevin. Momma Terisa was so proud.
Mycle Wastman vs Nicholas David
Song choice: "Don't Let the Sun Go Donw on Me" / "Put Your Record On"
I love the voices of these two good guys. Mycle sings ballads like a pro while St. Nick sings from the heart. Now, who is more entertaining? Who has more edge than the other? St. Nick tickles my soul.
Caitlin Michelle vs Diego Val
Song choice: "Bring Me To Life" / "Are You Gonna Go My Way"
I love Caitlin's voice. No doubt she is the better singer than Diego. So what happened to this pairing? Caitlin has just done what is familiar to her. She sings wonderful but similar to Evanescence. Knockoffs are great but it doesn't beat the original. Diego knows this so he stayed true to himself.
Some thoughts on the last rounds of battle on The Voice. Whether you agree or disagree with the judge's keeps and steals, one thing is certain -- many talents did slip down the cracks. Nonetheless, most of those move on are the cream of the crop so to speak.
Did the steals bring a lot of impact? Yes it did. But I think, there are some steals which were unnecessary. And tough luck for those who perform at the end of the battle rounds because Adam, Cee Lo and Blake already used up their 2 steal limit. I think the shows producers should look into this and restructure the format so everyone has equal chance of being stolen.
Daniel Rosa vs Alexis Marceaux #TeamCeeLo Whataya Want From Me
This was an odd pairing by coach Cee Lo. Alexis seems to have the upper hand since she is trained. However, Cee Lo does have a taste for the odd. And it wasn't a surprise why he chose Daniel's slurry style. I find that odd in Daniel but I dig how he feels what he sings. Nicole Nelson vs Brandon Mahone #TeamAdam Ain't No Mountain High Enough
Another odd pairing but I kinda see that their voices have soul and mash together so well. It was also a tough decision to chose between the two. But for me, I liked Brandon more. Adam chose Nicole instead.
Devyn DeLoera vs MarissaAnn #TeamChristina Free Your Mind
This battle of the pipes blew my mind. It was a good choice for Christina and a good steal from Blake.
Adriana Louisevs Jordan Pruitt
#TeamChristina Hot 'n Cold
Another stellar battle between two pop power house. I do think Adriana gave more than Jordan. And Jordan deserves to be stolen which other coaches don't have at this point.
Michaela Paige vs Kelly Crappa #TeamBlake I Hate Myself fro Loving You
I didn't care for Michaela earlier. But in this performance, I think, she made herself known. She is definitely a rocker chick/dark horse of the competition. Avery Wilson vs Chivonne #TeamCeeLo Titanium
WOW! Avery sounds so cool and current. He is definitely a star. I can't help compare him to Trevin. I wonder if there is room for two protege in Cee Lo's stable.
Other Highlights: Cassadee Pope vs Ryan Jirovec #TeamBlake Not Over You
I been waiting to hear more of Cassadee but all was shown is a short clip of her battle round performance. Another contestant which I wanted to hear more from is Loren Allred who hasn't given much airtime as the rest.
Here is a rundown of the artist per team.
